Services ‡ The designers own garden in Yorkshire.

Liz re-designed a traditional lawn, roses and rockery garden into the current green oasis you see above. The hard-landscaping was done by local contractors and the planting by Liz.

Brief ‡ A calm space for retreat, inspiration & learning from plants. A degree of privacy was essential, as was the need to retain views & a connection to the landscape beyond.

Practically, there needed to be flexible seating areas, room for sculpture & numerous borders for experimenting with plant combinations. 

Response ‡ A relaxed atmosphere with loose naturalistic planting inspired by local flora, open moors & shady woodland landscapes, both found within walking distance of the garden.

Reclaimed York stone paving creates a dining terrace close to the house & blends with new & existing dry-stone walling to the garden boundary & raised areas. Sculpture is a transient feature as local artists photograph their work against the soft garden backdrop.
