The clients used local contractors to install the hard landscaping, choose & supply furniture & prune mature shrubs.

Brief ‡ To transform the former composting corner of a large garden in to a 'secret garden' that the retired clients could incorporate in to their daily stroll around the garden. The area was to remain largely secluded and to include somewhere to sit.

Response ‡ To edit & enhance the structure of existing evergreen shrubs to create an enclosed space with seating to pause. A new access route is created through mature Rhododendron & Holly bushes to add a woodland journey experience to the daily walk. Selective editing of shrubs reveals the craftmanship of the existing curved stone wall. Low, shade-tolerant plants & additional evergreen screening from the road & lawn will be planted in the second phase of work to complete the feel of a secret garden.
